ilzho
Hello: I cannot remember where I found this, but I am stumped to as what this might be. I am guessing coprolite, but that's just a guess? Any help is always appreciated.

BobWill
Maybe it's a fecal pellet-lined burrow. Do the places you usually collect have a common formation or age to give us a clue for provenance?
Fossildude19
My first thought was pellet lined burrow cast. Maybe @Carl or @GeschWhat will have some insight with this piece. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." ilzho
90% of the fossils I found either came from the beaches of NC, aurora fossil mine or other areas/mines in NC. I collected them when I was a kid and my record keeping was very bad. I do not remember where I found this piece. A pellet lined burrow cast is pretty cool to me. wetwilly
Looks similar to the burow casts I have found. 2 Bill
GeschWhat
I agree with the others. Burrows such as this are classified as ophiomorpha. They are generally attributed to crustaceans. The modern ghost shrimp are known to line their burrows with fecal pellet in a similar way. 2 Lori www.areallycrappystory.com/fossils www.facebook.com/fossilpoo
abyssunder
I agree. Your specimen looks to be a tunnel terminal, a terminus structure. 3 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. Some of the details don't match Ophiomorpha and I don't feel overly strong that there's anything fecal about it. I'm gonna be a wimp and stick with indet. trace fossil.
