zydeco2go
Hi all. Im sure this is common and boring, but just a bit curious about what I found on the beach in Costa Rica. It measures about 2" each way. Shark tooth? It is totally a rock now. Thanks Edited February 5, 2017 by zydeco2go wrong file format

sixgill pete
Now that we have a picture, Tony is correct, just a suggestively shaped rock. zydeco2go
Thanks, I would have bet anything it was a tooth, as the top of it would be like a tooth being pulled (larger than the bottom and very porous)

Keep looking and a fossil will come Your way. Tony Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." danthefossilman
Wish I had a dollar for every concretion or rock that looked like something. I took a sandstone object to the Natural History Museum in San Diego that looked like a tooth with a root or clam with a neck that I could not identify. The Paleontologist brought a box of would-be fossils out which were all look-a-likes and said, "sorry." He didn't even want it for his box. Perhaps I should sell it to Morocco, as they like to send fake fossils to us?
