Dinosaur vert ID

Recommended Posts

Picked up this vert cheap today.

The guy said he thought it was a dinosaur vertebra.  He bought it a long time ago and list all the day on it.

He remembers it coming from the USA and that's about all he remembers.

It is 4 inches by 3 inches wide and very heavy for it's size.

Any ideas?

Did i finally stump the forum? Not possible!!!!!

I have doubt about this. (You just need to be patient and give people time to see it.)

The vert looks much like some of the whale verts from Sharktooth hill, but I am not one to make an id of any vert.

I would be happy with that as an ID also.  Bought it as part of a colection.  I did get a giant whale vert in the collection.  This was the only item he bought so long ago he didn't know what it was.

95% sure this is a dinosaur caudal.  The ends are not parallel ,which they would be in a whale.  The preservation is noting like STH, much more dinosaurian.  Maybe Morrison Fm, but tough to tell.

Thank you.

I figured you or Trodon would know if it was dinosaurian or not.

Given no location data I am guessing it would be extremely tough if not impossible to say what kind of dinosaur.

No location or age and it is missing a lot.  "Dinosaur" is a good ID.
