Jeffrey P
Another really nice one Tim. Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Someday I hope to see at least one of these fully prepped. I'm guessing there's more to come. Keep up the good work.

Fossildude19
It is, Dave. We work hard to get the shale out, - it'd be a shame to leave it there. fossilsofnj
A lot of potential on this one, some beautiful detail is exposed but a good deal is still covered by a thin layer of shale. I believe the fish to be complete or close to it with an estimated length of 9 cm. Sorry for the late post, this sat on my workbench with the fish obscured by a layer of mud. No splitting needed, just a quick rinse with the garden hose. Photo was taken while the plate was wet, Fossildude19 realigned and tweaked the picture for better viewing. I’m optimistic that an air abrader will uncover a lot more detail… maybe hopeful is a better word. Fossildude19
This is a nice one, John. Is that a thin layer of shale over the front of the skull, as well? fossilsofnj
Hi Tim, Yes, there's shale covering several sections of the skull. There's a lot of faint fin and bone material covered by a very thin layer of shale that I can see under magnification that doesn't show up in the picture. john 1 It's good sportsmanship to not pick up lost golf balls while they are still rolling. - Mark Twain
