Nice partial fish bits......I have something that looks like something in your first photo and I was told it might be a fish spine.....I circled it in your photo so you know where i'm talking about and since your really really good with this stuff I value your opinion... Could it be a part of the dorsal fin in the middle of the back???? TonyThe Brooks Are Like A Box Of Chocolates,,,, You Never Know What You'll Find. Fossildude19
Tony, I think mine is part of a dorsal fin, but not sure about yours - if this is what you are talking about it looks more like a mineral stain with something running through it? Not really sure on this one, Tony. Sorry. Jeffrey P
That's an excellent partial, Tim. Probably the best I've seen from that day so far. I just wonder if the rest of it is on another piece of shale. Congratulations and keep them coming.

Fossildude19
Another find from Granton from the shale I'm splitting at home. This is a larger skull and 1st dorsal of one coelacanth, on top of a smaller coelacanth - the skull of which is visible just anterior to the 1st dorsal of the larger fish. The fish underneath is also upside-down. Jeffrey P
Very cool and unusual find, Tim. Fish on top of fish. Besides finding it and prepping it out, you did a great job of recognizing what you had. Congratulations and thanks for sharing it. Keep them coming. I hope to, although the larger shale has been mostly split, I do have lots of smaller stuff to go through. I should manage a few more finds in all of that.
