Fulgarites!!!!

Hi All,

Yesterday I had the opportunity to go fulgarite hunting. For those who are not familiar with the term, a fulgarite forms as the result of a lightning strike on quartz sand. I'm sure that some in this group will contend that a fulgarite is not a fossil but others consider it as evidence of a lightning strike. The only problem is that it is very difficult to date a fulgarite. Anyway, check out my photo below and I hope that you like what you see.

I have heard of these before, but have never found any myself. Very interesting, thanks for sharing.

I believe lightning can induce shocked lamellae as well.

Phyllosilicates just can't handle stress, the weaklings

Very nice finds,Deb.
