Large marble like fossil

This fossil was given to me years ago. It's approx 11"X7"X2.5" any idea as to what type of fossil it is and ideas on approximate value?

It's a nice ammonite. You can't ask about its value on that forum (see the rules), it is not the purpose of this forum. If you want to know its value, ask to professionnals on the net or in expositions.

My hunch is it's from Maine or New York unfortunately I'm not 100% positive.

I agree with abyssunder, that's a Devonian goniatite. 

Manticoceras sp. is a good educated guess, but due to lack of info of its origin I would keep it at : Goniatite.

Probably neither can be ruled out, but I doubt it would be an expected find.
