History Hunter02
Hey guys, my father found this thing on Tybee Island in Georgia, while in a trip for work. Do any of you happen to know what it is? Thanks so much.
Fossildude19
My first thought on this was a ray dermal denticle, ... but I am leaning towards fish skull bone - maybe a parietal or post parietal. Picture is quite blurry, - a better pic might help - maybe take it in direct sunlight? Regards, EDIT: Maybe @Al Dente or @MarcoSr can add some insight. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Kane
I agree with Tim on parietal or post-parietal... but is it possible it could be a vomer bone? That v-shaped depressed notch is throwing me off (I flunked that course in fish anatomy 101, so I would be the least qualified to perform surgery on a fish ) 2 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
MarcoSr
Agree on fish bone like a skull fragment. Marco Sr. 1 "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day."
