Brownies Beach 3/3/17

I had to attend a work event in Baltimore on Friday morning so I used that as an excuse to check out Brownies Beach in the afternoon. I arrived at noon and got dressed and quickly headed down to the beach...I was pretty shocked at how low the water was, the north winds really pushed it out. I set out to start exploring and realized two things: 1. I didn't need my waders and 2. I was way overdressed...despite the cool temperatures and some sporadic snow showers, I was hot! Anyway, I worked the beach as far as I could, finding some teeth and vertebras sporadically along the way, I found the Mako right before I turned around. I started back and ran into another tooth hunter, after chatting for a few minutes I found out it was WAHAMA90! The two of us hunted together the rest of the time there, it was quite enjoyable to have someone to chat with and to learn how he approaches the beach. True to form, he found a cow shark tooth there...I swear that he is the king of cow shark teeth! I really enjoyed the area and the company, I'll definitely be back!

Couple of beach shots, extremely low tide!

Total haul.

The Mako was just shy of 2 inches.

This vertebrae was pretty interesting to me, the first one that I have found that was flat in shape.

Wow! I'm not used to seeing that much beach there. Glad to see you taking advantage. That mako and hemi were excellent finds. Congratulations and thanks for  posting.

A perfect tide, good company and a couple of sweet "take-home" teeth. Sounds like a great day! Excellent pictures, thanks for sharing.

It was great to finally meet you Rob. It was nice hunting with someone other than my kids. I'll have to make it over to your side of the river sometime. Here are a few that I found that day, and a couple from yesterday. I could only hunt about 45 minutes yesterday. That big part of the cliff that I told you looked bad came down after we left. A guy on the beach told me it was already down when he went Saturday. I was sinking in up to the top of my knees trying to get around it. That is where the shell in the picture came from. The whole thing was together. I don't know how after a 50 foot fall. There were about 2 other fresh falls also. I happened to get another cow shark tooth also. It was just to hard to find anything because of the muddy water.

You called it! It was mighty eerie looking when you pointed it out. I had to go over to the Eastern shore for work today and I was thinking abut Brownies as I was crossing the Bay Bridge. Amazing how shells can survive a fall like that...and why am I not surprised that you found more cow shark teeth? :D
