ROCKHOUND351
Im really a rock and mineral collector, but gone on fossil trips when i get a chance, and pick up some here n there i find. Im finally getting around to picturing my rocks and cataloging them, and fossils im less an expert. So i would like more information to properly name and catalog them. So any help would be greatful. All of these i have found myslelf. TRILOBITES The first 2 pictures im sure is a trilobite, i found it at Deer Lake, Pa. im thinking a Hollardops or Greenops type? Third picture a trilobite, but probally not enough to identify what type? 4th picture maybe a trilobite head of some kind? PLANTS First picture, i found this in Wilkes Barre, Pa. which is a very high coal producing area. I believe this is a Lepidodendron Tree Casting? 2nd picture some type of tree bark? (Deer Lake, Pa.). 3rd plant picture, maybe lepidodendron leaves? 4th picture, a fern, but what kind of fern is this? these fern leaves look really full and big, and alot i have seen are skinnier and not as full? Any help naming all would be appriciated, give it a shot for me, I will call this round one. Thanks Paul.
Kane
The first one looks to be the pygidium of a Greenops sp. trilobite. 1 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
Ludwigia
I agree with Kane. Greenops pygidium. The others are beyond my scope with the exception of the bark, which I believe to be Lepidodendron. The fern leaves may be Pecopteris, but I'm not at all sure. 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Red Benjamin
Hi Paul, Maybe Nr 3 is a Crinoid, depends how big the example you have there is.. Looks similar to these? http://www.fossilmuseum.net/Fossil_Galleries/Crawfordsville_Crinoid_Gallery/Crawfordsville_crinoids.htm All the best Ben
Fossildude19
1.& 2. Is a Greenops sp. pygidium. 3. Is actually an enrolled trilobite thorax. The trilobite looks like small Dipleura dekayi. 4. Looks like a Greenops sp. cephalon. 5. Looks like a Lepidodendron sp. branch. 6. Could either be a piece of decorticated Lepidodendron sp. bark, ... or a bit of a Stigmaria sp. root. 7. Plant "hash". Either rootlets from a Stigmaria sp., or foliage from a Lepidodendron sp. 8. May be some sort of Pecopteris sp. Detail is missing from the pinnules, and where they attach, ...however, so it's only a guess. Neat finds. Thanks for posting. abyssunder
I think there could be a good resemblance with Lepidodendron, maybe with L. aculeatum. Stigmaria don't have rhomboid shaped scars, only round shaped scars (excluding the stellate one). links to source: here and here 1 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. ROCKHOUND351
ok heres what i got from this so far, and im ok with labeling. and i can agree with. 1. Greenops pygidium 2. Dipleura dekayi thorax 3. Greenops cephalon 4. Lepidodendron rimosum? 5. Lepidodendron aculeatum 6. Maybe Lepidodendron Foilage, but probally not enough evidence to be positive. 7. Pecopteris Fern

I reversed black and white on your image. Still no detail. Nah, just bemoaning the fact that I am not bi-lingual. I saved it anyway, just for the pictures. Makes me feel like I'm back to reading comic books.
