it cI didnt post much here because i didnt had much time and the weather was simply too bad to hunt.

But last week i managed to  hunt in some nice quarries in Bavaria and found many fossils !

First I want to share my finds and pictures from the quarry Ludwag.

There exist two quarries, I was in the old Ludwag 2. You can find fossils from the upper Jurassic period.

This was my first visit there and i must say that i enjoyed it :D

Not only because of the various finds also because of the beautiful landscape ...

Some pictures of the quarry:

I collected in the lower areas:

My finds:

Ammonites are very common there but today you can only find small ones ...

I found many:

A bigger one with 3.5 cm. This is one is well preserved and i think it could be a Orthosphinctes sp. (?).

Another 2.5 cm long one:

But i dont want to show only ammonites !

I also find other interesting fossils, for example this interesting oyster.

Arctostrea sp.: (2cm)

I also found many brachiopods and i think different types !

Common are Lacunosella ...

I like their structure and form. Sometimes they are very big up to 4-5 cm !

A part of my haul:

They are all about 4-5 cm long and mostly worn.

You can also find sea urchins there but i am not sure if i could find one (found similar rocks).

But i found nice sea urchin spikes ! For example this 1.5 cm long one. Can somebody narrow down the exactly specimen ?

Hi Sebastian. Looks like you collected quite a bit in that quarry. I especially like the Lacunosella brachiopods and the ammonites. That gastropod looks very interesting. Is this quarry accessible to collect in?

Very nice.

I think I see another urchin spine in between the old ammonite and the young snail...

Hi and thank Jeffrey !

I spent about 3 hours there.

Its a very old quarry, which was closed many years ago. So the quarry freely accessible and there were lots of other people there (no collectors).

But you should take care of the nature !

I think it would be another good place for your trip :)
