Is this a bone?

My daughter and I love to collect shells, fossils, shark teeth, etc...

I collected this from an unusual location...a yard sale lol Bought it along with a few sea shells. Thought it somewhat resembled a bone. It looks like it came from the ocean due to the texture.

It weighs 10.3 oz, so somewhat heavy for its size.

Sorry, but this is an interestingly shaped piece of limestone.

Ma Nature has a sense of humor.

Not quite bone textured, but you are correct, it looks like it came from the ocean,... from a long time ago. ;)

OK, thanks. Sorry, but i'm really too far from Virginia to give you information on your nearby sites. If you write virginiaor Shenandoah Valley in the search window at the upper right of that page, you might find more information. And i also think there is a thread speaking of fossil sites. Good luck !;)
