Rankin, TX

Stopped at a roadcit between Rankin and McCamey TX to take a quick look. Hauled some rocks home and started busting into them. 

 I'm not sure of the age but it is in limestone. The maps I have looked at make me think Cretaceous but to be honest I hesitate even saying that.

Lower cretaceous

Glen Rose formation.

The matrix normally is not as hard as this appears to be but as far distributed

as the Glen Rose is, no doubt there is going to be variability.

The first spiral specimen is the give-a-way.

Some areas produce many of the gastropods.
