It maybe a cast of wood but I see no wood structure in Your pictures.

Better focus on the first view may help to clarify whether it is wood or not.

The bark-like exterior texture appears to be the result of the small joints or fractures in the chert not any organic plant preservation as Tony says.

While that piece doesn't appear to be petrified wood it is still a beautiful example of chert. It would polish nicely and fit into just about any rock collection.
