Crann
Out hunting today in Whitby UK, having a lovely walk in the nice weather but finding nothing, literally back to the end ready to go back to car and this was lying between rock's, had a look and seen the nice gold keel sticking out, usual trick would be hammer blows to side to expose but I'm learning to be patient... prep pen is the way, cheers. RJB
Hey Crann, that would be very tuff to send back! I would love to see it once done though. RB
Wrangellian
I think the gold part is the internal mould / endocast (whatever you want to call it), and if you expose it fully, that would mean you're removing all the ammonite shell, just FYI. Your right, depends what it's like underneath, rather have shell/pattern than just a gold cast but won't complain either way.
Crann
I'm only taking it down to the ammonite, wouldn't remove any shell just for colour, cheers

Crann
Well... decided to open it with small chisel to get rid of the bulk of the matrix, this is what's inside... needs going over with the pen when I get sorted with a set up.
