Just popped open two concretions I collected years ago in Grundy Co, IL, via freeze/thaw method. Essex fauna.

The long one appears to be some type of marine worm? The round one is the one I'm wondering about: the top half shows some detail of radiating lines.

Maybe it will be recognizable to someone with more experience with IDing these.

Thanks and enjoy!

Hello, Eero59.

Its hard to speculate what you may have there.  It wouldn't hurt to soak each specimen in white vinegar for an hour or so, and then gently remove the calcite.  Revealing any additional detail in the potential fossils. I typically use dental picks and tooth brushes to aid in the removal process.

Thanks. The way the calcite fractured may have been what caught my eye. Otherwise, no other interesting detail.

I'll try a vinegar bath, thanks again.
