spz457
Does anyone know what this is? To me it resembles a tooth of some sort. I found it in Indiana years ago and have just been going through some old finds. Edited March 19, 2017 by spz457
Jesuslover340
I'm not entirely sure that's not just geologic in origin...kind of difficult to see if I am seeing any traces of worn spongy bone. But I am quite sure it isn't a tooth 1 "Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."-Romans 14:
Ludwigia
It certainly has the form of a tooth, but it does not appear to have the right substance and structure. It's probably stone, but we'd need sharper photos to say for sure. 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Fossildude19
I brightened and rotated your pictures a bit I agree with the others, - no enamel, no bone structure. Not a tooth. Indiana really only has paleozoic sediments exposed, so, too old for many types of teeth. See this geological map: I see what appear to be bryozoan fenestrule ( window like openings in lacy bryozoans) along parts of this item. Rockwood
I think it looks like some sort, perhaps a mixture, of marine invertebrate fossils. Tabulate coral is another possibility.
