rl9900
I had this for about 10 years or longer. My daughter when young was skipping rocks picked up this rock and liked it. She in turned dropped it on a sidewalk and it split in half. When I picked it up i was tring to figure out what is inside the rock. So can anyone tell what this is, is this normal in rocks? ynot
Welcome to TFF! It looks looks a bivalve shell, but it is hard to make out any detail because the picture is out of focus. If You would provide better pictures someone here can be more specific on the ID. Tony Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." Fossildude19
Close up picture is a bit blurry, but it looks like a brachiopod to me. The rock looks like limestone, and fossils can be pretty common in some limestone exposures. I cropped and enhanced your first picture. Still not enough detail to ID. Neat little find. Plax
this rock is not from Norristown; correct?
Rockwood
Second brachiopod. I think that's the pedicle opening centered on the lower edge of the fossil. The suggestion of metal makes me suspect it is pyritized.
fifbrindacier
I agree, brachiopod. "On ne voit bien que par le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux."
