Mike Price
What type of tooth is this? And your thoughts on removing some of the excess rock or matrix from the crown?

Vieira
It looks like a bone fragment to me.
Mike Price
Thanks..... That is why I'm also wondering about removing more matrix for better identification.
Fossildude19
Broken/worn bones can be next to impossible to identify. Maybe one of the bone guys can weigh in on this. Ptychodus04
It's a Chunkosaurus obscureus... It is bone but it's unlikely you'll get any further ID. I wouldn't bother trying to prep it as the matrix removal won't help an ID.
