aSubtleHero7CN
Hey, everyone! I am pretty confident this is a type of coral; but does anyone know what specific type it is? Thank you for sharing your expertise with me!
ynot
It is a tabulate rugose coral, but the experts will want a picture straight down on the top. (the part above Your thumb.) edit-- missed this one. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." Harry Pristis
II think it is a colonial rugose coral, not a tabulate. Perhaps a Lithostrotionella, a common Mississippian coral in the Midwest. Herb
I agree with Harry Pristis "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence"_ Carl Sagen No trees were killed in this posting......however, many innocent electrons were diverted from where they originally intended to go. FossilDAWG
Very nice rugosan coral! It seems to be an Acrocyathus, which is a newer genus name for some corals previously included in Lithostrontion or Lithostrontionella. Don
aSubtleHero7CN
Wonderful! Thank you, everyone, for the pictures, links, etc. It is great to be putting titles to the fossils I find. Here is another view of this one in particular.
