Bronze ammonites

I cast yesterday  bronze ammonites. Nothing serious, just for fun.  I use true ammonites for the shells, the head and tentacles were modeled in wax.

These are lovely! Bronze casting is a true art form, and many are the bronze-workers who carefully guard their techniques.

Those are beautiful! @Deruos  Without giving away trade secrets, can you share how you go about casting these? Again very nice craftsmanship.

Having cast in bronze before, I can appreciate the beauty of these, and the work that went into them. Great job!

No trade secrets !!! I first took a cast of the ammonites with elastomer (pict. 1). in this mould I poured hot wax and got a wax ammonite. I modeled with the same wax the head and the tentacles (pict. 2). When the model was ok, I took an second cast of the complete model with elastomer (pict. 3). In this second mould i poured synthetic resin and obtained a white solid model (pict. 4). i use  this solid model for sand casting.

Awesome!  Are these flat on the reverse side, so as to be able to make pins?
