Modern or fossil shark tooth

I found this his big tiger shark tooth at a local rock shop today. The tag says Eocene but no location info is provided and the store worker had no idea. It looks modern, but the enamel has chipped back a bit as if fossilized. Was wondering what you guys thought?

cheers!

Yes, Galeocerdo cuvier. 1 1/8". Couldn't walk past it for $10

I don't know if this is fossil or recent, but it's a really nice one.:)

Could be recent, because teeth are quickly colored in the ground and 30 MY seems to me old to have a tooth so white...

I'm not so sure. See the tooth in the picture below. It is a bit washed out but that day I found several very light colored teeth. All of these came from the same creek.

One thing for certain, this is not Eocene. Galeocerdo cuvier first appeared in the latest Miocene or early Pliocene.
