Probably because you're always out collecting all those beautiful ammonites of yours. :P

You got a point there :)

This string is going to get really long with the extent of this prep!

I spent another hour on the snout of this guy tonight and The scribe work is done (on this side). Here's how it sits after 11 hours.

Now, on to the other side.

This side is missing a larger chunk of bone where the main break is but there's also a lot more matrix covering the teeth so, I'm hopeful for more well preserved teeth. It also has more well preserved ornamentation in the dentary. Here's the left side after an hour. 12 hours is the running total.

Two more hours progress (are you seeing a trend yet?) tonight for a total of 14 hours.

the matrix on this side is significantly harder than the other side. That's good and bad. Slower preparation but better preservation. I have uncovered a few teeth that were not exposed at all and they are in much better condition than any that were exposed.

I'm ready to get this thing off my prep table! Here we are with a total of 18 hours on the prep. I'm at the point where I'm evening out the matrix that will remain to hold everything in place with a bit of clean up still needed around the distal end and a bit of work in the heavily textured areas. After that, the whole thing will get some abrasive treatment before moving on to the final treatment of the cracks. I can see the light at the end of this toothy tunnel and I'm sure @StevenJDennis is ready to get his specimen back. :P

I gave this guy the full court press over the last couple days. Here we are at 25 hours. Scribe work and abrasive is done with most of the crack filling as well. All that remains is basically a few hours of pair to make the filler blend better with the bone and matrix.

29 hours and I'm done with the Phytosaur. I wrapped it up today with some acrylic paint to mask the different repair areas. I went for a few shades darker than the specimen for the paint and then gave the whole thing another light coat of PVA.

Awesome! Congrats on having a specimen that would make even museums drool, Steven.

Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!

Just picked it up today...turned out amazing!  Outstanding prep job, once again.

Thanks Steven, it was a pleasure to work on. I'm excited that it turned out so much better than we were expecting when you first dropped it off.

Thanks. I had low hopes for it based on the condition it was in when I got it. @StevenJDennis clearly has a 6th sense when it comes to buying specimens in the roughest state!
