The 2017 Mid America Paleontology Society (M.A.P.S.) is being held this weekend at the Sharpless Auctions Facility in Iowa City (I-80 Exit 249), Iowa and the Pre/After show is being held at the Clarion Hotel, also in Iowa City (I-80 Exit 246). I know people like pictures, so I took a number of pictures for everyone to enjoy.

Man you must have felt like a kid in a candy shop. I might have to look into this in the future. Thanks for posting all those pictures.

Amazing pictures. This show is now on my bucket list. I have already started saving up! I could walk around there for days and never get bored. Thanks for taking the time to post these.

It is a lot of fun and the place does not have a very big footprint, 2 large rooms. Your profile says that you live in Michigan, I would definitely stay Thursday night in the Clarion Hotel so you could do the pre-show and then the start of the actual show on Friday.

Great photos! That's some pricy stuff though.

Yes- and a lot goes back home with the seller.

I went Saturday for a couple of hours. Kids had a great time. I was hoping to get a few unprepared green river slabs, but the only vendor I found didn't have much of a selection. Still worth the drive though.

I used to go often when it was closer to home in Macomb, IL. It looks a lot smaller in these photos than when in Macomb. Anyone know how it stacks up?  (BTW, thanks a bunch for sharing the photos!!!!)

I was able to visit the show on Saturday. Always interesting to see the variety of fossils, different than what one is used to collecting. Two more points about this show:

        1. There are a variety of lectures available on a wide range of topics.

        2. They provide "experts" in the identification of fossils that one has difficulty with. Just bring your unknowns. I myself have IDed 6 items taken to the show. Now they can receive a proper label.

You are correct, it was a lot larger when it was in the Student Building at Macomb, it seemed to get smaller when they moved it into the gym on the campus and now it is even smaller. The majority of the dealers that were at Macomb were older and many from different countries, I have not seen those vendors in years. All in all, it is still a fun show to attend.

Thanks for the info. It was always a highlight of our year to run up there for a day or two. The new location is a little more of a commitment, and with kids, jobs.... I think they made a mistake moving it so far from any major metro.
