Having only found specimens with 1-2 nodes, I was pleasantly surprised to spot this poking out of the ground after a heavy rain yesterday. Just out of curiosity (and so I can properly label it in my gallery), could anyone tell me what species of Calamites it is (if possilble)?

Thanks, all! Definitely my most visually-appealing find so far. :)

@fifbrindacier: I technically found this last month, so I think I've missed the deadline. Dx

To bad! It would have been a good one to enter.

And just by a hair, too! I definitely need to start looking at different parts of the forum (sometimes I forget there's more than the ID section).

Thanks! I know I'm going to have a hard time beating this one. Now just to rearrange my display cabinet to make it fit...

It would be worth to rearrange all your house to make it fit to your Calamites.:P

This say, maybe you know what Calamités mean in French ?:P:P:P

NICE! I didn't know the French word, but I always thought Calamites was spelled awfully similar to Calamities.

Thanks! I've also found a lot (probably over 100 -- mostly small -- specimens on this property alone), but this one is by far the most impressive. I'm glad I spotted it in the mud before it got buried up again for who knows how many years.
