Yeah I agree. Doesn't look like any kind of fossil.

 

Maybe a suggestively shaped rock?

I haven't seen the movie but it was filmed in the Field Museum, wasn't it?

Nothing more than a suggestive rock, I'm afraid. If the Field Museum is reading this, I suggest they send it to me so they don't have to have the embarrassment of owning it.

I thought it was filmed at the Field Museum as well, but it wasn't.  From IMDB:

I went to see Sue last summer it really is the most amazing fossil. Also the presentation of Sue was amazing her back faces the entrance. So you have to walk round her before you can see her face. This seams to build up a real sense of suspense. Field museum a must see. Bobby
