pambosk
Cyprus, some 10 km north of Amathus ancient city I am really not equipped yet with knowledge, therefore I will not be posting many photos of each thing, unless one expert finds it promising. This one is 3 keyboard buttons long. on the other side which is somewhat similar theres a thin layer of an orange/red mineral, probably calcite, if that means anything. doushantuo
I'm afraid it is not a cranium(scientific term for "skull") of any kind. BUT, fear not : with your zealous enthousiasm sooner or later you will find a true fossil probably sooner than later
Fossildude19
Suggestively shaped rock. I see no bone texture, no skull morphology. Keep looking. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Troodon
Shapes as you are learning only suggest a fossil but it's bone that tell us it's a fossil. Skulls are made of many thin bone elements that help form the eye orbits, maxilla and nose and they should be visible. Visit museums to see what fossil bones look like. Good luck keep searching.
fifbrindacier
You could try to join a paleontology club to learn where to find fossils and how to recognize them. Kane
Judging by the geologic map of that area near Amathus, there are a lot of marls, chalks, and some chert. It straddles in age between the Palaeogene and Neogene, the Pakhna and Lefkara Formations, respectively. If you head a bit more north, there are some pockets of Moni Formation sandstones and siltstones from the Cretaceous. Keep looking 2 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
doushantuo
Might be originally hydrothermally mineralized ,think Troodos ophiolite.

That's what I sort of had in mind I think.. see few months ago, I saw online a snake's head, which was a combo of a red crystal and this chalk-like harder though material. Since then i picked a few of those.
