igneousc
We took a trip to Morocco last month and wanted to grab some fossils to bring back for ourselves and for gifts. We basically had no clue what we were doing and on top of that ran out of time in Southeast Morocco to hit up some stores, and were only able to stop at one random store somewhere outside of Alnif. Mainly just curious if anything is fake. I don't think we really got the greatest specimens. They had some nicer looking ones, but we really didn't feel like spending much money. Any thoughts would be great. Also have a trip report that I put online if anyone was interested, mainly just pics of our travels around Morocco lcmorocco.wordpress.com
JarrodB
The ammonite looks real.
Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. Actually, the outer whorls of the ammonite look real, ... the inner ones look carved, to me. They don't match the outer ones at all. The rest of everything looks real, but the black trilobites were prepped with a heavy hand. Nice additions. LordTrilobite
Those Onchopristis sawfish teeth are composites of real but separate teeth. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
igneousc
cool thanks for the info I got the first trilobite and ammonite for $20 total the sawfish teeth were somewhere around 5 to 7 dollars each Then the three top and bottom trilobite groups were somewhere around $12 and $15 each and the second trilobite was around $5 to $8 probably not the best values for buying stuff in the middle of Morocco, but we were pretty clueless lol
Wrangellian
I like the orange trilobites... completely unaltered, unlike most Moroccan fossils! Did you get all the pertinent info (esp. location) for each of these?

It was a pretty decent sized shop, but it was just one guy running it and he didn't speak any english

'Location' is French also and they speak French over there I think... ??
Ludwigia
Well, for our conditions, you got a fair deal on everything as far as price is concerned at least. All of the "ribs" on that ammonite with the exception of half of the outer whorl are obviously carved. Greetings from the Lake of Constance.
