Mako (?) from Balegem

Hi all,

Is this a mako? In my opinion it looks a little bit like Isurus oxirhynchus, but I'm not sure. I know that it's quite worn, but still IDable.

It comes from Balegem, Belgium (--> Lutetian, Eocene; 45 mya).

Thanks for the help,

Max

The tooth is quite worn to make a call for me.  It's not a mako they were not around in the Eocene.  Could be a sand tiger shark.  Again take a look at that link I provided you on Belgium teeth.

Thanks for your help!

Looking at the website you gave me, makos were alive at the time, with Isurus praecursor (which actually seems like an OK option to me).

Best regards,

Max
