Heading out to the Poconos next week - probably around Tobyhana S.P. and the Lehigh Valley Rail Trail. Anyone know of any good spots in the area?

Throughout the Poconos, casts of tree branches, twigs, and roots can sometimes be found. Around Carbondale fossil ferns and bark can be found at some locations. Closer to Port Jervis, NY are Paleozoic invertebrate and plant fossils including brachiopods, bivalves, gastropods, trilobites, and corals.

Any suggestions for legal spots to look in Carbondale? Never been to that Corner of PA before.

I encourage everyone to visit the exhibition Coal Mine in McDade Park in Scranton. I've been in several others but the geology of the surrounding rock layers and the unusual thickness of the coal beds is amazing. Its a good way to spend a rainy afternoon. Eckley Miners Village down I-81 a few exits is also worthwhile.

Here are some of my finds from Carbondale this week. Lots of identification over the next week or six to do!
