Crinoid? K-bentonite?

Hi, I found this fossil in Dixon, IL in January, which I believe is the Galena formation. Not sure, but guessing it is a crinoid columnal. Also, curious if the thin top layer is volcanic ash (K-bentonite)? Thanks for any help.

It looks like a crinoid column, to me. Can we have an end view of the other side?

Yes, It's a crinoid stem. In the middle of the section is a hole which is the lumen. Here is an example of a partial stem (pluricolumnal) from the Ordovician, Galena Formation, SE MN, from Bev's collection.
