Tooth Id

Found this tooth in the Santa Fe this past week. I just can't get a positive ID on it, maybe some species of camel? It measures 1 7/16" high.

Certainly an artiodactyl. Could be camel, though it looks to be on the smallish size. Occasionally, a Capromeryx fossil shows up in the Santa Fe. I even found several goat teeth (modern) in that river on one dive -- drove me crazy until I took them to the museum to search the collections for a match.
