Mike Price
I found this bone on the Pedernales River. Could this be a sloth phalanx? Is that the proper designation for the 3rd bone on the 3rd claw? I also found a few other types of bigger heavy bones, I've never seen on the Brazos River or along the Texas coast. Is anyone familiar with what fossils have been found on the Pedernales river, Texas? Thanks for any input....

Mike Price
Well, since no one has replied, one way or another, I'll assume, I am wrong about this bones identification. Does anyone know what bone this is?
ynot
Have patience Mike, sometimes it takes a few days for the right person to see a post. At least Nobody came on and said it was an unidentifiable chunkasaurus. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." doushantuo
Without claiming this is a sloth phalanx, but just for the record:A bit of judicious googling delivered the name Paramylodon as a Pleistocene Texan xenarthran
Mike Price
Thanks, y'all. I have compared this carpel/phalanx to others. And the Sloth phalanx looks to be a good match. And since we're talking about sloth bones. I also found what looks like a small sloth claw core too.

Mike Price
I've tried 40 different medial phalanx and none seemed to fit this proximal like this big medial does. What do you think?
