Jmgorces
Can you help me identify what this might be? I don't think it's a sharks tooth but it looked cool. I found it along the beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Thanks!
ynot
Welcome to TFF! Maybe a crocodile? Wait for other opinions on this one. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." My Fossil collection - My Mineral collection My favorite thread on TFF.

Rustdee
Could you post a picture of the base? I am wondering if it may be mosasaur. I know other mosasaur teeth have been found on the beach there.

Rustdee
I believe that you have half of a mosasaur tooth, most likely from the Cretaceous Pee Dee Formation that is directly underneath the sand at Myrtle Beach. The oval base tends to be diagnostic on many species of mosasaur. I say that while acknowledging that @ynot and @sixgill pete are much more experienced and knowledgeable than I am, so they certainly can be right.
Plax
I'm with Rustdee all around! The base gives it away. The Charleston Museum was looking for Mosasaur material from SC some years ago. Probably got what they needed by now...
