pile of shells?

Area found, Ay Athanasios, Sfalagiotissa Area, 10km north from Limassol shore

its 5cm diameter shell-shape 2cm thick.  on top there is a dent, when wet a red shell-like shape appears. in photo 1 it is slightly visible on the left.

bottom i can see at least 2 shell casts, which means there were shells under and there are shells on top.  Anyone thinks I should try and extract that red one from the top? And if yes, any recommendation apart from scratching my way around hoping for the best?

All over that area, I found many sponges, shells and other reef fossils, that I will post here at some point.

This is a tough one to be certain of without local experience. I wouldn't expect to extract shell material from it. There appear to be mold fossils in it that have been thoroughly vacated. I suspect the red color is staining from replacement minerals which have now been lost that were rich in iron compounds. My guess is that it is the mold of the inside of a brachiopod shell.

Yep they look like shell imprints, most likely a bivalve.

I do not see that any improvement will be had by trying to prep this piece.

The fossils are either prints or are the same material as the matrix.
