FossilSloth
Can anyone ID this brown turd-looking thing above the fish?
ynot
Coprolite (fish poop). Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." Rockwood
Think of the slang term for death. 'Soiling the sleeping mat'. These fish are thought to have died from hypoxyic conditions during algal blooms.
-Andy-
Not absolutely sure myself, but I often see these labelled as coprolites, aka fossil poo-poo Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!

FossilDudeCO
yup, it is poop. and EXTREMELY common with Green River fish such as yours. If you keep looking I bet there will be more in that piece of rock!
GeschWhat
Yep...a very nice fossil fecal formation (aka coprolite). Poop is the best! EDIT: Coprolites like these are made up of apatite, a form of calcium phosphate. abyssunder
Maybe that's the key for the questioned phosphatic globose "things" usually encountered in the Moroccan matrix? " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. abyssunder
Maybe like yours. I'm referring to something like 1 and 2 in my picture. abyssunder
Also to me, but I'm not a specialist in these things. BTW,... I was the "artist", and I was very careful with the prep of the Moroccan matrix.
