Monica
Hello once again! Viola and I went to a new location for a little fossil-hunting this afternoon, and we think that she may have found a rough-looking trilobite - what do you think? We found it by Mimico Creek in Toronto (Georgian Bay Formation, Upper Ordovician). It's in a massive piece of rock so if it is indeed a trilobite then we'll have to find a way to cut the rock to save only her little treasure Thanks in advance! piranha
You found a ventral Flexicalymene. It has a misleading appearance of a spiny trilobite. This inverted photo better illustrates the characteristic glabellar lobes of Flexicalymene.
abyssunder
It looks like a Flexicalymene. Well, piranha said it. piranha said it " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. So I made an accurate prediction in the poem I wrote about Viola during @ynot's and @GeschWhat's recent poetry contest - that Viola would find a Flexicalymene sp.!!! Now all we have to do is find a way to cut the rock that it's within, otherwise I suppose Viola can just keep it as a piece of floor decor in her room
