Evawaco
Hello Y'all. I'm new to Waco, from. San Antonio. I am looking for any places where I may look for rocks\crystals\ anything new. I've read post on here about Waco pit and Whiskey Bridge, but is there any other place?? Has anyone ever found things by the BRazos River by Cameron Park? Thank y'all very much. Fruitbat
Evawaco...welcome to The Fossil Forum! The Waco area, like the San Antonio area, has an abundance of Cretaceous exposures...so any good road cut or stream/river bed has potential for decent fossils (molluscs, ammonites, echinoids, etc.). There are scattered Pleistocene fossils as well...but they take a lot more looking! You might consider a visit to the Waco Mammoth National Monument. No collecting, of course, but I understand they have a very nice display. I visited that site the same year it was discovered...back when it was just an unimproved creek bed! -Joe Illigitimati non carborundum Fruitbat's PDF Library
