Goodwill 49 cents something inside. I'm guessing it's from where the hole was made

Looks to be the type of ceramic glaze known as Raku. Hole would have to have been made prior to firing.  Still a fun decorative piece for .50 cents.

Now that I can see the picture without my screen glare, I would agree with the others that it is likely pottery.
