Our family tries to keep abreast of events happening at our local college, Virginia Tech. We had previously helped paleontologists with a "Citizen Science" night that involved unpacking a full summer's worth of finds. This month, the paleontologists held a public unveiling of their new find, Teleocrater rhadinus. Above is a picture of my son, left, helping to hold up the drawing of the full-sized creature. I've included the public abstract, which described it as "the earliest bird-line archosaur."

During the lecture/presentation, one of my 9 year old daughters took detailed notes. Thought you might find it interesting :)Notes_page1.thumb.jpg.741ab3837965a1df4ce9f56ca836e7a2.jpg

The other part of the lecture/presentation involved re-classifying a 2012 published find as a phytosaur. While exciting, I believe my local newspaper buried the lead, and focused on this instead of the teleocrater. Here's our local summary, the photo featuring my wife and one of my daughters (along with the back of my head...)
