Tides can move things - no reason to assume it was anything but currents in the water, I would think. 

With the amount of fossils found in the shale, it would be fairly good odds of finding something like this. :)

Originally one was located above/below the other, then they were compressed together by the tons of sediment laying above. Now it looks like the Belemnites is sticked in the ammonoid.

So, one night a Belelemite swims into a bar, and spies a really attractive Ammonite... :)

Thank you for looking @TqB I find scenarios such as this quite fascinating as Elliot and I have come up with a few ideas which made some interesting chit chat.
