Hat
I am developing a thing for trilobite eyes ever since I read a book on the Cambrian Explosion called In the Blink of an Eye. I'm sure many of you have beautiful trilobite specimens with great eyes. I just bought this. It's like a pair of eyes sticking out of a rock, with a fat little trilobite attached. The trilobite is .9 inches wide. It is Eldredgeops rana rana from New York enrolled in matrix. Please show me your trilobite eyes!

piranha
This amazing trilobite from my collection has the most lenses of any schizochroal eye. Fenestraspis amauta – Lower Devonian – Belén Formation, Chacoma District, Bolivia "Their size is reflected in the exceptionally large number of lenses, at least 918, arranged in 49–51 vertical files of up to 21 (rarely 22) lenses each." quote from: Holloway, D.J., & Carvalho, M.D.G.P. (2009) The extraordinary trilobite Fenestraspis (Dalmanitidae, Synphoriinae) from the Lower Devonian of Bolivia. Runner64
Pictures aren't really doing this one any justice but here is a Metacryphaeus from Bolivia. I can't seem to get any good, close up photos of the eyes but when I look closely they appear flawless. Unfortunately his other eye didn't make it but this one is fine! I actually really like the trilobites from this location and find it interesting how these trilobites come in nodules.

I like them also. There's someone on ebay selling Trilobite "geodes" from Bolivia. They're quite tempting. Especially the ones where the matrix is broken so that only an eye can be seen, like the trilobite is peeping out.
Fossil-Hound
@Hat here's a Eldredgeops rana and a Bellacartwrightia whitelyi. The Bella is almost complete. Will send out some more pictures later. The E. rana is Malcolm's trilobite. Do or do not. There is no try. - Yoda
Fossil-Hound
@Hat just curious how much did you pay for yours? Did you purchase off eBay? Do or do not. There is no try. - Yoda
