i found this in southern maryland in st leonards creek

Can you take a pic with something for scale? I would help to know the size. Also could you take a close-up of those ridges in the first pic. And maybe pics of any other distinguishing features.

Mold of a bivalve. Maybe Ostera sp. ?

I seems like an internal mold of something but I am not sure. I can't place that ridged pattern, but it seems familiar.

The two round/oval shapes kind of give the suggestive shape of crab shells. ( I am not saying that is what it is).

I wonder if it might be a "steinkern" / internal mold / cast of Isognomon maxillata or some similar bivalve.  This is a photo from the Calvert Marine Museum.  Might explain the ribbed pattern...

thanks to all who responded  peat burn particularly it seems if i took his photo and turned it sideways its a very good match the ribs seem to match as they have a thick part before getting thin  also calvert county is very close to where this was found  thanks again
