I picked this little piece up in Alpine WY. The lady I obtained it from says she got it in Kemmerer. Any idea what it is?

Closest thing I could find online resembling it , From the Green River Formation was this:

 

 

 

 

Listed as "unidentified monocot flowers: tube flowers".

The specimen pictured is 1.7 inches long.

Tim nailed it.

Little flowers from a plant or bush.

 

Most of these remain unidentified because no one really studies or collects them.

 

The rock that yours is on appears to be from the 18" layer. Which would also make sense from ones I have collected there.

 

Nice little find! I do love these flowers and plant pieces we find up there!

Fossildude - The piece is roughly 2.5" x 2.5"
