Falconlily's Fossils

Recommended Posts

Could this be the most fantastic find I have ever had? I need identification help before I throw myself a party.... it makes no sense due to my location but I have hundreds of fossils, hundred more waiting to be cleaned but could this be Arkarua Adami? Thanks all, I've never tried online identification before, Falconlily.

That was the original thought, the ridges around the ends say otherwise..... I have lots of crinoids etc, not even close to what the column  segments, sections that I have look like but that was definitely our first thought as well! Thank you for the insight. That was a quicker response than I expected, I look forward to this new group. Thanks again, Falconlily

Are there any Pre-Cambrian deposits near you?

Where was this found?

County is good enough.

From Wikipedia:

"Arkarua is known only from the Ediacaran beds of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia. "

Most of my rocks have been Silurian era, Door county, Washington Island, Lake Michigan, thank you for the column post Tim. I had not seen another column with that much detail, sadly I may reconsider my initial wish......

We've all misidentified things from time to time - it happens.

Heck, it happens to me, allot. :P

We just learn from our mistakes, and that makes the lesson worth learning. ;)
