Shark's teeth and molar?

Murman

Recommended Posts

I just spent a week at North Topsail Beach in North Carolina and had never found a single shark's tooth in my life before this trip. My daughter's boyfriend found a tooth and showed me what to look for. I ended up finding about 100 teeth before the week was out. Anyway, among my finds were several large shark's teeth and one that looks to be a molar of some sorts. I'm hoping you guys can help identify these for me. Here are pics of the molar...

Here's my collection for the week. Also, the teeth in a vertical row at the bottom right are different. Can anyone identify those?

Well now that you've surpassed your one sharks tooth, you can retire.

Not too sure, but your molar might be of Tapir variety. Let's let others more knowledgeable in your area give their opinions.

First shark tooth looks like a white shark.

Second tooth to damaged to be sure.

Third tooth is a megalodon.

The other teeth look like barracuda teeth.

Thanks for your responses. I am amazed at how old my discoveries are! This was my first trip to Topsail Island and had no idea that this particular area was a hot spot for fossils until I started finding them. I have already decided to go back either later this year, or next year.

Welcome to TFF!

Alligator teeth are conical, not multi cusps.
