Insect wing?

I found this in a gorge near a Wass go Lake New York. The wing-like shape is composed of quartz - we find lots of horn coral in this area so wasn't sure if this could also be an oblique section through some type of coral.

I agree

I think it's the inside of a brachiopod, showing a vertical section through the spiral brachidium (the calcite support for the soft lophophore).

I think the solution is that it is a brachiopod as TqB suggests that has a more rounded shape and is sectioned 90' to it's commissure making it's profile more that of a clam.

I'm with the brachiopod solution. I have a few that have been eroded in a similar way and look almost identical.
