It's a claw from a ghost crab. They're somewhat common, but the one you found is in pretty good condition.

Indeed this is a crab claw tip. If you'r really lucky sometimes you'll find the complete crab in a nodule. I've seen pictures from locals but have yet to recover one.

Carl... curiosity forces me to ask.... how do you call this a callianasid and not a crab?

Do a Google image search for Protocallianassa and you should see the similarity. Plus, callianassids are extremely common at the NJ sites and true crabs are exceedingly rare.
