Tazcat
Hi fellow fossil hunters! I'm pretty new at this identifying finds even though I've been collecting since I was learning to walk. My recent trip to Isle of Sheppey produced some great finds but I have no idea what most of them are - help! And added the sponges in for good measure! Rockwood
5+6 from the top appear to be 'humanite'. A man made material. Perhaps an electrical insulator.
Tazcat
Agreed, I thought maybe pottery? The weird part is that they were found pretty deep down in the clay which had not been eroded so they must be pretty old but they are definitely 'humaite'! Ludwigia
Pretty much everything looks geological to me as well. I'm sorry, but I don't see any sponges anywhere. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Taogan
Can't see anything fossil. The ceramic (5) is man made and not all that old. The clay slumps and covers the surface on a regular basis so anything on the surface gets stirred in. Fossils on Sheppey tend to be pyritised and found loose on the foreshore. Try looking for the wood, but don't collect too much as it will probably disintegrate after a few months, but in the areas where you get the wood you get the other things, sometimes lots of other things.
