Id wenlock edge

Hi , yesterday I found what I think can be a coral but I'm not sure. I found it in wenlock edge (Shropshire uk)

There's no coral structure visible there - I believe it's a stromatoporoid which occur in large numbers in parts of the reefs.

 

The section shows the typical laminae and pillars.

No oysters in the Silurian. Smooth one side, concentric banding on the other, about the size of a fist, classic Wenlock formation stromatoporoid

Sure is shaped like an oyster though.

 

It does look rather like an oyster but photo 2 is a section through a colony I think. And I don't believe there are oysters that shape around there..
